Three young female musicians, Elín Sif Halldórsdóttir, Guðrún Ólafsdóttir and Hrafnhildur M. Ingólfsdóttir form the group Náttsól. Despite young age, they all have considerable musical experience, both in performing and writing music. Their goal for the summer will be to focus on pop music made by Icelandic women in the 20th century. Their music will be put in to a new perspective and rearranged for the group. Their focus will be on making the songs accessible for simple ensemble of three singers but without losing the musical essence of the songs. Their hope is to make people more aware of the great importance that Icelandic female songwriters have had in the Icelandic music scene, honour their work and point to them as role models for young, female songwriters. A program of eight songs will be put together as well as recorded and finally, a video will be made of five of the songs.
